Sasha Levinson

Sasha Levinson approaches film making with a deep passion that's been burning since she was a kid. Born in New York City and raised between New York & San Francisco, she was inspired by the vivid daydreams of her youth, the visuals of her urban surroundings and the emotion these visuals evoked. Sasha knew she wanted to create film from a very young age.

At 17, she wrote & directed her first film entitled MOTHER & CHILD. This award winning short chronicles a woman's journey to find her estranged daughter and was shot on location in Italy & Russia. The Maya Deren inspired mood piece made people stand up and take note of Levinson's hauntingly moody storytelling style.

At 19, Sasha landed her first gig on a feature film: NINA TAKES A LOVER. (Laura SanGiacomo) Working as the Assistant Costume Designer was the perfect vantage point to intimately witness the feature film process through the actor – director relationship. After NINA, Sasha costumed a slew of indie features including DREAM FOR AN INSOMNIAC (Jennifer Anniston, Ione Skye) and JOYRIDE (Tobey Maguire, Benicio Del Toro).

But with the unyielding desire to direct her own 35MM film, Levinson wrote & directed the short, THE STORK & THE PUSSYCAT. With the help of PANAVISION, STORK was produced starring Josh Randall and premiered at the SOUTH BY SOUTHWEST FILM FESTIVAL where Levinson was touted as a "serious up and comer with a voice and a vision".

Then Sasha met director Jamie Caliri. Seeing in Sasha a love of filmmaking and a strong knowledge of production, Jamie asked her to be his producer on a slew of upcoming projects. Over next two years she produced music videos for The Eels, Marcy Playground, 50 Cent, Mary J. Blige and Sean Combs. After this stint, Sasha knew it was time to make her move into directing professionally.

The first project she landed was directing a music video for the band, CAKE. The song was "Short Skirt Long Jacket" and the video garnered international attention and was featured in the British publication, SHOTS. Suddenly, Levinson was directing high profile music video projects including the MTV darling, PLAY "I MUST NOT CHASE THE BOYS". But it was a project directing JESSICA SIMPSON in a visual content DVD created expressly for TARGET that lead Levinson into the commercial arena.

Now signed with LOST HIGHWAY FILMS for spots, Levinson has directed campaigns for BLISTEX, K SWISS, SYLVANIA, GE, PROGRESS ENERGY, COVERGIRL and PAYLESS SHOES where she had the great pleasure of collaborating with icon stylist PATRICIA FIELD. She recently directed EDDIE IZZARD in two web episodes of THE RICHES for FOX TV.
